Million prelims postponed to Thursday

Zach Yost

ROSSBURG, Ohio — A deluge of late-afternoon rain — and a tornado watch until 10 p.m. — forced Eldora Speedway officials to postpone Wednesday’s scheduled Eldora Million preliminary program to Thursday morning, setting up a doubleheader topped by the evening’s $1,002,022-to-win feature. | Complete Eldora coverage

The heavy downpours slowed around 5:30 p.m., but with the half-mile oval thoroughly drenched officials opted to push the split-field feature program to Thursday.

General admission gates will open at 10 a.m., the same time that officials will conduct a drivers’ meeting in the pit area. Hot laps and time trials will immediately follow leading into qualifying for the twin 25-lap preliminary features paying $12,000-to-win.

After the stands are cleared upon completion of the preliminary program, fans will be readmitted for Thursday’s night Eldora Million finale — heats, B-mains and the 101-lap feature — that will be run as previously scheduled in the sport's richest-ever event.

All entries for the Eldora Million are required to complete their registration, draw their qualifying pill and go through technical inspection with their cars on Wednesday.
