Zeta's rain revises Georgetown's schedule

With the remnants of Hurricane Zeta dumping more than 2 inches of rain on Georgetown Speedway and more predicted to fall overnight, promoter Brett Deyo announced a revision of the Delaware track's Mid-Atlantic Championship Weekend schedule that scraps Friday night’s program and moves all the Super Late Model action to Saturday.

The Super Late Model portion of the event — topped by a feature offering a base first-place prize of $5,000 that can increase to $7,000 if the winner posts a pre-race "gambler's fee" — was originally set to run over two days with time trials and heats on Friday and the last-chance race and A-main on Saturday. Now the entire Late Model show will be contested on Saturday alongside the Short Track Super Series big-block card and support-division features with hot laps starting at 4 p.m. and racing at 5 p.m.

The divisions that were scheduled to run complete programs on Friday — RUSH Crate Late Models ($1,000-to-win) and small-block modifieds — will run a Sunday program starting at noon.

Other weekend specials affected by weather:

• Friday's Blue Ridge Outlaw event at Tri-County Racetrack in Brasstown, N.C., was rained out and rescheduled for Saturday.

• Saturday's $10,000-to-win Schaeffer's Fall Nationals event at Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Va., was called off by officials on Friday morning. The race will not be rescheduled this season.
